I'm also guessing that it probably flexes back to normal a lot faster, but hey, that's why it's called "prototype".

So you give it a few years and it's become the "kinetic reactive armour" used by military SF writers like Ringo & Webers "March to..." series. Ah me, SF, don't you enjoying knowing (and fearing) what the future holds before it gets here?
