For folks that haven't noticed already a few things.
1. I've started year 4.
2. Chapter 64 is up
3. Year 3 has been packaged up as a PDF.
4. Kimmie has yet to file an update, but there's not a lot you'd need to read from the last few chapters anyway.
And yes, I know I need to try and get back to regular updates, but that Mentalmucil stuff tastes terrible. _________________ The Grayhound Chronicles

Mentamucil? Form the same company that makes Metamucil? Don't they also make Somnambutol, Flatuol and Fartimol?
Probably not the same quality though. _________________ Age and cunning will always beat youth and talent. |

Depends on what you had for lunch, I'd presume. _________________ The Grayhound Chronicles

Awesome. You got this out just in time for my final week of the semester. This will help in my neverending quest to procrastinate large writing assignments. _________________ Whiny emo-boy cries about life at http://tsgarp.blogspot.com |

Is it just my browser, or is the GH page somewhat borken?
But the chapter... ah, tasty. Good to have you back(ish), TA. _________________ Unitedheroes.net - We're not lazy, we're... um... productivity-challenged. |

It was slightly bent due to programmer error and a rush job on my part, but it's fixed now. _________________ The Grayhound Chronicles

JIM, the link that was posted at the top of this thread is a little wonky. If you switch 46 for 64, then it works ok, and doesn't leave you at a weird TGC homepage. _________________ -- The All-Powerful Zaxor |

Still a HUGE .pdf though. A little judicious zipping is required. _________________ Age and cunning will always beat youth and talent. |

Well, the biggest one was year two, which turned out to be 4MB. That compressed down to less than a MB. Compressing year 3 only shaved about 100KB off.
As it stands, I can afford to have 3900 folks download all three per month (presuming I'm REALLY popular). If I wanted, I could switch things a tad and get another 4600 folks. (Did I mention that Dreamhost is the best damn hosting company on the Internet?)
Right now, I get maybe 1000 folks pulling the file per month (3000 on the higher months). That's not a huge amount, and well within the limit.
As for making the file smaller for folks on dialup, heh, that's why I provide them as individual chapters in HTML files _________________ The Grayhound Chronicles

Geez, go away for a week and somebody actually gets something done. This is kind of a scary trend.
Very nice, though. Especially enjoyed the intro, very Hitchhikers' Guide.
Narratio, maybe you should move somewhere civilized where broadband connections are readily availble, such as South-Central LA, Queens, or (since you seem to like Asia) Communist China. _________________ Bob the Goat: All the goat with none of the Malevolence |

Been to China, spent a couple of years working in Xiamen and Tianjin. Thier connections are not good and many websites are banned.
www.strangecosmos.com for one because of all the funny chinese pictures.
Nah, I'm back home in Thailand in a week +, I need something to do at the airports, this almost counts as a hobby. _________________ Age and cunning will always beat youth and talent. |
