10 PRINT "Heh"
20 GOTO 10
^C

Very funny. I also like the UI, very user-friendly, except for that whole "still-does-what-you-tell-it-not-what-you-want-it-to-do" problem. I just feel sorry for Shimo, so much potential, struck down at an such an early age, again and again and again and again... Kinda makes you wonder which god he pissed off so much.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
I'm just dancingly happy to see it up. I've never been much of a writer, and it spent more time stalled on my desk than it did JIM's. I'll take a run at writing the other one that is jangling round my head. It shouldn't take more than another...6 months or so. sigh. damn work getting in the way of fun again.

Thanks muchly to everyone.

I especially like the tid-bot, and took a screen shot of it for my own tiddilation. Thanks.

I'd say he's settling in as a uh.net author quite nicely, then.

Nicely done. Differs in style from the original (Jim, put it down! you don't know where it's been!) writing but as a stand alone it's rather neat. (Jim! Drop it it... I said drop it! Good Author! There's a Good Author! Yes, you are!) And a nasty story idea as well, made me go check my chemistry books. (Now, see the shiney paycheque? Go fetch! Fetch boy!). I'd like to see the other story that's bumping around in Maracas' head.

I have it on good authority that it involves Phil, a Scientologist comet, and an angry stack of pancakes.

JIM? If you're not serious, I'd be half willing to take up that challenge.

Well, having not seen the unadulterated version, I can't really say.

One thing that I tend to do is try to outline the story first, think of a few concepts and then let the beastie unfold as I go. I know that Steve does a ton of research before hand, plans things out very carefully and then tries to pick the worst possible outcome for each character. I think JIM stuffs his mouth full of tea leaves and runs naked in the snow before laying forehead to keyboard. Obviously, his system is one worth following.

Judging from the story presented, I'd say you've got a fair knack of things. You've picked the right subjects, provided just enough detail without bogging down, and kept things moving along nicely without presenting any major WTF moments.

Of course, one of the things not mentioned is (and I quote);
Quote:
watch reruns of "I Dream of Jeanie" to get any new material
See, it's easy! Cool

Maybe in the next one you could also throw in;
Quote:
a nuclear strike against Boise, the Galactic Ministry of Excise... and an invasion by a race of 7 inch tall sentient fungi called The Doomians.
All promised by a passing stranger or somebody with an amazing imagination Cool

Not having had to write anything more creative than a term paper full of lies and misquotations written the evening before it was due (much styled after JIM's approach, but generally using broken glass in the road instead of snow) since high school, I tend to just write long, rambling, run-on sentences with either too much, or too little, punctuation in incorrect places and split infinitives until I write myself into a corner and am forced to post it anonimously <logout> to random message boards as a mind-numbing (or should that be mind-dumbing) exercise for less than intrepid webcrawlers to stumble across and wonder over what twisted individual could possibly be able to write such a horrific piece of trash; all of which makes me wonder why anyone (else) would read this far into a one hundred and forty-seven word sentence, which actually went through two edits.

So will you accept my offer as travelling salesman for a brand new design concept in home cleaners / entertainment centres? 15% of the gross as commission!

I do the same thing, except I don't go throught the trouble of posting anonymously. Part of the problem is that I tend to write these posts at, *looks at clock* 4:30 in the morning, and thus, very little comes out in proper form.

My blog is full of such disasterous posts. I posted one a few nights ago, and found that I didn't even take the time to finish the sentence I was writing. A paragraph just ends with the word "however."

I choose not to go back and fix these, because I found them amusing, and I'm lazy.

My problem is that I thought I planned the episode out first. Then I realized that I don't have as much of an instinctive grasp on the english language as I thought I did. I don't like to read my own work after I write it. When I did I was shocked and horrified at just how badly all the bits and pieces went together. Editing is unfortuanately necessary for me I am now discovering.

I still hate editing.

So I'm not editing this post any mor
