Ah, well I was just talking with my dad on the phone and it turns out I wasn't completely correct. My dad was picking up Dune for the first time, but it was actually in the 80's and Herbert already had a following. I don't know if he was touring for a new release (would that be God Emperor?) or he was just touring. So turns out it wasn't first edition and Herbert wasn't unknown, it was just my Dad who didn't know him yet. _________________ Whiny emo-boy cries about life at http://tsgarp.blogspot.com |

Hmmm, Dune was published in 1965. He swept everything with it that year, picked up the Hugo and the Nebula for it. I saw my first copy in 1970. _________________ Age and cunning will always beat youth and talent. |

Ya, I suppose he was a little slow on the uptake.
