I'm the same way. After getting dressed and spitting out the tea leaves, often I'll feel like the stuff I've written is so durn embarassing I'll have to force myself to read it. Other times, I won't be able to stop reading what I've written, because my Gods! I must be a genius to produce such ripe stuff!
Time adds perspective, I find. Often stuff that I cringed at immediately after finishing it will seem quite serviceable or even good after a few days (or weeks or years...) have passed. And, also, vice versa. _________________ Unitedheroes.net - We're not lazy, we're... um... productivity-challenged. |

Make you a deal. I've got the rough outline for an episode complete. I need an associate editor. I need someone to give me a reasonable deadline, and then give of their time to do an initial read-through and order a re-write. Taking applications for an editor now. _________________ Those who ask themselves "why?", to the same questions are lacking in creativity. Make something up. |

Okay, I've got a few weeks spare before I go off shift.
I apply for the position.
Prior experience - Authored 16 technical articles on electrical engineering (boring), 4 or 5 game reviews for White Dwarf magazine back in the 70's and an awful lot of SF RPG story posts in the past year.
Do I get a hat saying "Associate Editor"?
Please? _________________ Age and cunning will always beat youth and talent. |

Granted, you may have to print it out yourself. _________________ The Grayhound Chronicles

Oooh, "Associate Editor" hat with a feather and a silver band and a wide brim with corks hanging from it and a picture of an aligator with the words "I'll buy that for a Groat" on the side.

Once again, perusing the "News of the Wierd" I come across this little beauty.
| Quote: | | And in Houston in October, police calling at the home of Ronnie Luhn, 37, regarding the theft of a newspaper vending box, arrested him after finding 181 of them crammed floor-to-ceiling in the one-bedroom house he shared with his wife and three children. [Houston Chronicle, 10-16-04] |
Could this be an intersteller smuggling operation? Are Newspaper Vending boxes now the fashion item to have at alien cocktail parties? Or is something worse? _________________ Age and cunning will always beat youth and talent. |

Actually, in this case, I believe a bit of research would prove that the beings you describe as "newspaper boxes" are actually refugees from the destruction of their home planet. They simply take the form of "newspaper boxes" here to fit in with their alien society.
The reason their home planet was destroyed is not well publicised, nor is there that much information regarding it, however it was universally decided that the home world of the Givers on Goatse simply needed to be destroyed. _________________ The Grayhound Chronicles

So the 181 found stacked floor to ceiling would come under the heading of "Refugee Camp"? Or maybe a terrorist camp used for planning a campaign of terror against those who destroyed thier home planet? _________________ Age and cunning will always beat youth and talent. |

Actually, I believe the key phrase here is "crammed floor-to-ceiling". This implies that it was not a group of "newspaper boxes" (or Tabloidians, as they prefer to be called), but a pair of Ultra-tabloidians, the semi-modular composite Tabloidian (similar to Voltron, but evil).
Just one of these fearsome creatures have been thought to destroy all life on Uranus by papering it with color supplements. It's a good thing that GC caught this nefarious duo before it was --
Too late!

Why have we not been told of this?
Why are we being kept in the dark over this threat to public safety?
Is it true that they've made a sinister pact with the forces of ultimate evil, UPS? _________________ Age and cunning will always beat youth and talent. |
