i like to think that i'm able to convey my thoughts and opinions reasonably well in both written and oral form. While i have what some have described as "a perfect voice for radio", and even have the classic Mid-Atlantic non-accent that is so favored by the nations talking heads, i prefer written correspondence over verbal.
There's a durn good reason too.
Written leaves a trail, i don't have to announce the fact that i'm recording a given conversation, and i don't have to blow time trasponding the conversation anyway.
Plus i can't remember sh*t.
No, really, unless i've got some damn reminder poking me in the side of the head, i'll more than likely forget some key element of the conversation.
i'm very forthcoming about my limited mental facilities, and frequently do my best to inform folks of this. i'm still amazed that there are folks who demand on doing the phone thing. Heck, i'll even tell them this on the phone and they ignore it. This usually results in the following discussion:
JR? Did you implement the Frazinstanz?
Frazinstanz? What Frazinstanz?
The one we talked about three months ago.
Three months? Let me go through my email. Do you remember about when you sent that?
No, we talked about it over the phone.
The Phone!? What have i told you about the phone?
That you seldom remember things we discuss on the phone? That it's an evil black hole of knowledge? That there be dragons there?
Yes, yes i did.
So we're going to have the Frazinstanz by Close of Business today, right?
Can you stand there for a minute? i need to practice my bat swing.
